I can focus on the important tasks that bring value and income to my business, and delegate all the small, time-consuming ones to my VA.

The cost of outsourcing a VA in the Philippines is also a great advantage when you have a small company.

Valerie Marin has always been a firm believer of alternative medicine, the body's capacity to autoregulate itself, and the body/ mind/ spirit connection. Today, she also believes in an alternative form of work assistance - after hiring her first VA. Read our interview with her below!

What was the obstacle that would have prevented you from hiring a VA?
The time to look for a suitable candidate and the cost of hiring an assistant locally.

What did you find as a result of hiring a VA?
I managed to free up some time to work on important projects!

In your experience, what are the main benefits of hiring a VA?

1. Cost effective, as hiring is more expensive in Singapore.

2. Increase of my productivity.

3. More organised and structured in my work.

4. I have a better overview of my business.

Would you recommend hiring a VA through Gina/Connected Women? If so, why?
Definitely. Gina has taken the time to select the most suitable candidate based on my criteria, and only referred the one she felt would fit my requirements. She did such a great job that the first person I gave a try to was the perfect fit! She has been with me for more than 5 months now.

I also had help in setting the communication systems with the VA, as well as tips on how to organise the workflow.

What's the best thing about working with [your VA]?

I can focus on the important tasks that bring value and income to my business, and delegate all the small, time-consuming ones to my VA.

The cost of outsourcing a VA in the Philippines is also a great advantage when you have a small company and can't afford a full-time paid secretary in Singapore.

Do you have any tips you would like to share?

Even if sometimes it takes more time to explain something to your VA rather than to just do it yourself, it is important to set some time to really train her well so she understands what you want and your style of working.

Don't unload everything in one go. Go bit by bit, so that she has time to integrate and digest the information.

Also, make sure she understands, by questioning her after you explain. I spend a lot of time sharing my screen to my VA to show her the application or location of files, but she learns fast.

Get matched with the perfect virtual assistant!
